Jimmy's Wish
A #ludumdare game by Mildly Entertaining Games made in three days for #ldjam55.
It's a microgame collection about performing steps from "Summoning 101" to summon Jimmy a companion for his birthday! As usual we did not get to do a lot of things we wanted to do (some you'll notice right away I bet!) but I think the result still is good for a bit of fun!
Try it if you like occult themes and minigames!
Obiously generated and way too verbose description:
In Mildly Entertaining Games' eerie microgame collection, "Jimmy's Wish," a young boy embarks on a series of unsettling rituals to summon a companion, each step more bizarre than the last. It all begins when Jimmy stumbles upon a peculiar book titled "Summoning 101" on his birthday, with not a single friend in sight. Desperate for companionship, he delves into the book's pages, unaware of the dark forces he's about to unleash.
The first ritual, "Nosepicking," tasks you with extracting a peculiar ingredient from an unlikely source. As you delve deeper into the nostril's depths, the game's haunting atmosphere intensifies, leaving you questioning the true nature of the ritual.
Next, "Writing Ancient Words by Typing" challenges you to transcribe eldritch incantations from the book's pages. With each keystroke, the air grows thick with an otherworldly energy, and the shadows seem to dance in the corners of your vision.
In "Spinning Around Very Fast," you must whirl in a dizzying circle, chanting arcane phrases as the room blurs around you. The disorienting experience is brought to life through haunting illustrations and masterful programming.
"Chopping Herbs" tasks you with precisely dicing a collection of strange plants and fungi, each with its own unsettling properties. The rhythmic sound of the knife against the cutting board is punctuated by eerie whispers, adding to the game's oppressive atmosphere.
Finally, "Finding Stuff Around The Room" sends you on a scavenger hunt for obscure items, each one more unsettling than the last. From a lock of hair to a tarnished locket, these objects hold secrets that hint at the true nature of the summoning ritual.
As you progress through these microgames, the sense of unease grows, and the line between reality and the supernatural becomes increasingly blurred. Will Jimmy's desperate wish for a friend lead him down a path of no return, or will he heed the warnings and abandon the rituals before it's too late? With its blend of occult themes, microgame mechanics, and a haunting narrative, "Jimmy's Wish" promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you questioning the boundaries of friendship and the depths of loneliness.
